Study Techniques
Have you ever wondered why some students do much better in exams than others? Intelligence is not the only answer—the most academically gifted pupils do not necessarily perform best in exams. Hard work isn’t the whole story either. Some of the best students actually work less. No, what seems to count is the way you study; according to the experts: the pupils who get the best grades have a series of techniques to help them. And these are the same whether you’re studying in London or Los Angeles!
Firstly, successful students tend to be tidy and well-organized. For example, they keep their rooms or studies in good order—so they don’t waste time looking for pens or important papers. And they schedule their time well maybe aiming to finish homework a couple of days early. In that way, if it takes longer than they think, they’ll still be in time.
Secondly, good students develop good studying strategies. When they take notes, for instance, they mark the important points in red, so when they’re revising later, they can see the more relevant material immediately. But if they don’t understand something, they will ask the teacher immediately.
Finally, they don’t worry too much about what other people do, or what they think of them. If they feel happy studying in the bath, they study in the bath.
To sum up, it doesn’t seem to matter when or how much or where you study: the most important thing is how.
